Terms of Service
Effective and last updated:
These terms cover your use of Dot by Dot: Pixel Art (called “Dot by Dot” in the app) for iOS and Android, and dotbydot.app. The app and website are provided by Kaya Altın (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using them. Your mandatory rights under applicable law remain unaffected.
Using Dot by Dot
Dot by Dot is an offline pixel art and animation editor. It does not require a Dot by Dot account. You may use it for lawful creative work, subject to these terms, the applicable store rules, and any third-party rights in material you use. If you are not old enough to enter an agreement in your country, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these terms on your behalf and authorize any purchase.
You must not use the app or website to infringe another person’s rights, distribute unlawful material, interfere with the website’s operation, or bypass purchase verification. Restrictions on modifying or reverse engineering the software apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not override rights under applicable open-source licenses.
App license and store terms
The software is licensed to you, not sold. On Android, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, subject to Google Play’s terms and these terms. You may use the editor to make personal or commercial artwork. This does not transfer ownership of the app, its branding, or its bundled materials to you. Third-party software remains subject to its own licenses.
For the iOS app, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement governs the software license. These terms supplement that agreement for the matters described here and do not replace it. If a provision conflicts with the Standard EULA or mandatory store rules, those rules govern the applicable store use. The Standard EULA does not mean that we collect telemetry; our actual data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.
Apple and Google operate their stores; they do not provide our editor support. Contact us for app questions. Store billing and refund services remain subject to the relevant store’s procedures and applicable law.
Your artwork and bundled templates
You retain your rights in original artwork you create. We do not claim ownership of your artwork or receive a license to publish, sell, or train AI on it simply because you use Dot by Dot. Projects are processed locally. If you send a project to support, we may use it only as needed to handle your request.
Bundled templates are provided for use and editing within the app and for exporting your resulting artwork. Underlying rights in the templates remain with their respective rights holders. Access to a template does not grant ownership of the original template, the app, or branding. You are responsible for having permission to use material you import and for respecting third-party rights when distributing your work.
Free features and Lifetime Pro
The app includes free editing and export features. When available in your store, Lifetime Pro is an optional, one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the Pro features listed on the purchase screen. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. The store shows the actual local price and any applicable taxes before you confirm payment. Website prices are informational; availability and local pricing may vary.
“Lifetime” means the Pro unlock has no recurring fee or scheduled expiry for the purchased app. It is not a promise of unlimited storage, unlimited device capacity, every future product, perpetual updates, or compatibility with every future operating system. Pro features have the canvas, frame, layer, and memory limits described in the app. Losing Pro access does not restrict saving existing work.
Purchases and restores use Apple’s or Google’s billing services and need a store connection. Use Restore purchases in the Pro screen with the same store account that made the purchase. Store eligibility and rules apply; a purchase on one store does not automatically transfer to the other. A refund or store revocation may remove Pro access. If ownership cannot be verified, use Restore purchases or contact support.
Refunds
Refund eligibility is determined by applicable law and the store that processed payment. You can request an Apple refund through Apple’s refund process or a Google Play refund through Google Play’s refund process. Contact us for purchase-related app issues. Nothing in these terms limits a refund, warranty, or other consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
Local saves, exports, and backups
Projects, settings, and recovery copies are stored on your device. We do not operate cloud sync or keep a server copy of your artwork. Automatic saves and local recovery reduce the risk of loss but cannot guarantee recovery after corruption, device loss, removal of app data, or uninstalling.
Keep independent editable project exports for work you want to preserve. PNG and GIF exports are finished images and do not replace an editable project backup. Files you send to another app, cloud drive, or sharing destination are handled by that service under its own terms. The interactive browser preview is a demo: its changes last only for the current page session unless you download a PNG. Selecting a different template resets the preview.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains local processing, store purchases, support correspondence, website hosting, retention, and deletion. Agreeing to these terms does not grant permission for advertising, tracking, or any new collection of personal information.
Availability, warranties, and responsibility
We aim to provide a reliable editor, but interruptions, errors, and compatibility changes can occur. To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided “as is” and “as available” without additional warranties. We do not guarantee uninterrupted website access or recovery of every damaged file.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app or website. This does not exclude or limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where such liability cannot be excluded, or any other liability or consumer guarantee protected by applicable law. Mandatory rights in your place of residence take precedence over conflicting terms.
Stopping use and changes
You can stop using the app and website at any time. Export work you want to keep before deleting the app or its data. Uninstalling does not itself request a store refund or erase files you exported elsewhere. License termination for the iOS app is governed by the Standard EULA; on Android, we may terminate the software license for a material breach of these terms, subject to applicable law. We do not gain ownership of your artwork when your license ends.
We may update the app, website, or these terms. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date, with notice of material changes through the app or website as appropriate. Changes do not remove mandatory consumer rights or retroactively reduce rights already acquired through a purchase. Any required agreement to materially changed terms will be obtained as required by law.
